Scores of terrorists killed in large-scale operations

July 21, 2013 – A unit of the Syrian Arab Army Sunday eliminated a large number of terrorists from Jabhat al-Nusra, some of them were foreigners, west of the industrial city of Adra in Damascus countryside.

A field commander told SANA reporter that the terrorists were observed and pursued from al-Dmir town before they were ambushed west of the industrial city of Adra.

The source added that various weapons and ammunition were seized, including rifles, RPG launchers, machineguns, grenades and ammunition.

The army also seized Jordanian and Egyptian passports with the terrorists who belong to Jabhat al-Nusra and so-called “Islam Brigade”.

300 m tunnel discovered in Daraya

During hunting terrorists in Daraya in Damascus Countryside, an army unit discovered a three hundred – meter -long tunnel to the south of Sharida Square.

An official source told SANA reporter that the tunnel is equipped with electricity and wide enough for the passage of a motorbike, adding that the terrorists were using it to transfer and store weapons and ammunition.

The source added that an army unit killed seven terrorists near al-Furn roundabout in the city of Daraya and destroyed their weapons and ammunition.

Large-scale operations kill large numbers of terrorists in Aleppo

In Aleppo, units of the armed forces foiled attempts by armed terrorist groups to sneak into safe areas in Aleppo and its countryside, killing many and destroying heavy weaponry.

SANA reporter quoted an official source as saying that clashes erupted between a unit of the armed forces and an army unit on the outskirts of al-Rashidin neighborhood in the city.

Another army unit, the source added, destroyed a den for terrorists from Jabhat al-Nusra in al-Rashidin al-Rabi’eh neighborhood along with weapons and ammunition inside.

A number of terrorists were killed during army operations in the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud, Bustan al-Qasr and the old city of Aleppo, according to the source.

An army unit thwarted an attempt by armed terrorist groups to infiltrate into safe areas in Karm al-Jabal, destroying their equipment and weapons.

In Khan al-Assal town, an army unit clashed with terrorists affiliated to jabhat al-Nusra in the farms surrounding the town located in the southern countryside of Aleppo. The terrorists suffered severe losses.

Other army units targeted vehicles driving towards Khan al-Assal and loaded with weapons and ammunition to back up the terrorist groups that are being defeated under the army’s strikes.

A number of terrorists who had been committing acts of looting and blocking roads on Atareb-Khan al-Assal road were killed, with their weapons destroyed.

Also in Atareb, an army unit destroyed a heavy machinegun and killed 11 terrorists near the Cultural Center in the city.

A unit of the armed forces killed tens of terrorists and destroyed their weapons and ammunition near Zaido gas station on Aleppo-Idleb road.

Gatherings and dens for terrorists were destroyed in Qubtan al-Jabal, Kafr Dael, Hreitan and Hilan areas in the countryside.

Terrorists’ infiltration attempt from Lebanon foiled

Units of the armed forces killed and injured several terrorists in several towns and neighborhoods in Homs and repelled an armed terrorist group’s attempt to infiltrate from the Lebanese territory near Talkalkh, inflicting heavy losses upon them.

An official source told SANA that the army units killed a number of terrorists in BabHood, Joret al-Shayah, al-Qusour, al-Khalidiyeh, al-Warsha, al-Hamidiyeh, al-Karabis and al-Masabigh neighborhoods in Homs and destroyed their weapons and equipment.

The source added that an army unit, in cooperation with the border guards, foiled terrorists’ attempt to infiltrate from the Lebanese territory  through Hallat site in Talkalkh countryside, killing and injuring scores of terrorists.

The source pointed out that another army unit destroyed terrorists’ mortar, weapons and ammunition inside their dens near al-Syriac cemetery in al-Rastan and in al-Zara farms, al-Mashjar al-Janoubi, Khirbet Deir Slam, al-Sam’alil and al-Naseriyeh in Homs countryside.

Ahmad Khaled Kahwaji was identified among the dead.

Meanwhile, another army unit foiled terrorists’ attempt to detonate two explosive devices, one of them weighs 150 Kg, near Oum al-Dababir village on Homs-Palmyra road.

Units of the armed forces killed and injured several terrorists in Daraa countryside, including the leader of the so-called ” Al-Yarmouk Martyrs Brigade”, and repelled an armed terrorist group’s attempt to attack a military checkpoint in Daker town.

A military source told SANA that the army units destroyed terrorists’ dens and gatherings in the villages and towns of  al-Soura, al-Herak, al-Mleiha al-Sharqia, Busr al-Harir, al-Sheikh Misken , Saida, Um al-Luqas, Abu Madarat and Jasim, killing and injuring scores of terrorists.

The source added that an army unit killed all members of an armed terrorist group in Nawa city, including Abdulrahman Mohammad al-Ta’ani, leader of the so-called “Al-Yarmouk Martyrs Brigade”.Another army unit destroyed a terrorists’ den in Daraa al-Balad and killed all terrorists inside it, including Ahmad Khalil Dagher.

The source pointed out that the army units repelled an armed terrorist group’s attempt to attack a military checkpoint in Daker town, killing all its members and destroying their equipment.

Meanwhile, terrorists  Yehia Mohammad was killed and others were injured due to the explosion of an explosive device while they were manufacturing explosive devices inside one of terrorists’ dens in Daraa al-Balad.
